The Sullivan Home
Built in 1952

TOH 2024-7.jpg

Built in the early ’50s, this sprawling ranch-style home was purchased by Bill and Becky Sullivan. Other notable owners of this home were two generations of the Lawerence Tankersley family. Becky designed the chef’s kitchen remodel in 2006, which included cabinets built by Van Meredith, a local artisan. The master suite, pool, and workroom were added at that time.

Mrs. Sullivan’s parents were avid art collectors, and many of the paintings, sculptures, and decorative objects acquired over a 54-year period are still in the home. Becky’s family business, Southland Athletic Manufacturing, is well represented in a fabric artwork that also gives a nod to Bill Sullivan’s career as a sports journalist. Many of the paintings in the home were by Becky’s paternal grandmother, Mildred Warlick, who studied with Otis Dozier, one of the Dallas Nine, an artist group working in Dallas during the ’30s and ’40s. Much of the furniture in the home are family heirlooms and have been passed down for generations. A unique art collection of Jars by Smithsonian Fellow Tracy Hicks adorns the window overlooking the delightful swimming pool and backyard. Among the Egg collection is one red egg, a contemporary work from the House of Faberge. An “Egg Tree” will be on display in the study.
